How do I demux audio from MPEG 2 and synch with .MOV or SORENSON SQUEEZE unionjacker posted 2006 Aug 06 07:08 Hi guys, SORENSON SQUEEZE much to my dismay will not recognize the audio track on a muxed MPEG 2 video that I converted and extracted from a DVD using VOB2MPG. I needed all the VOB files on the DVD to join into one clip and convert into a format that SORENSON SQUEEZE would take. The only program that extracted properly without getting an error message was VOB2MPG a great program but the audio is muxed with the video and Sorenson won't encode the video and audio together as they don't support MUXED AUDIO on MPG files. So I have a perfect quicktime sorenson compressed movie but with no audio. 1)HOW do I get the audio off the original MPEG 2 file and synch to my resulting Sorenson Pro compressed clip, so I can get audio video together again and in synch. 2)or HOW do I demux the sound from the original clip and convert that sound into an audio file Sorenson will recognize and link to the MPEG 2 video. While it doesn't accept a muxed file, it has a LINK AUDIO function in it to link a seperate audio clip to the video. File formats SORENSON will take are MPEG, MPG, M2V, MPA, MPV Any ideas, programs I can use to get this done? The usual suspects such as Tmpgenc demuxes audio to a format not listed in Sorenson Squeeze. Thanks. Been on this now for a few days. Trying to put a short movie I made, up on the web using Sorenson Squeeze. But converting from VOB and getting it into Sorenson Squeeze has been next to impossible. The problems were converting the VOB to AVI so that I could import into Sorenson. But every program suggested on this site wouldn't convert it. It would stop half way. Only VOB2MPEG worked. This is my latest problem. So close to getting this done... guns1inger posted 2006 Aug 06 07:47 rejig can demux the audio from an mpeg file, ffmpeggui can convert it for you. Rejig could also have demuxed the video and audio from the original vobs. unionjacker posted 2006 Aug 06 07:52 Excellent response time. I was going to try doing some Demux now. The problem becomes if SORENSON SQUEEZE will take it and link it to the original file. It's all about getting it into Sorenson so I can give it a quality compression. I'll post the results soon as I have tried your suggestions. I couldn't extract the DVD Vob files with any program I used. Only VOB2MPEG worked in the end. And it was the only file I could import in Sorenson after ripping it in various with 4 or 5 different programs all suggested here. unionjacker posted 2006 Aug 06 09:00 MAn, I'm so close to fixing this yet still far, far away. Still getting no audio. Here's what I did. I used Rejig as you said to demux both MPEG2 VIDEO AND AUDIO AC3. I got an M2V video file and an AC3 audio file now seperate. Okay so having the two files split I then used ffmpeggui to convert the AC3 to MP2, which was the only option given. So MP2 is not recognized by SORENSON SQUEEZE in that case I renamed the extension to .mpa which Sorenson does recognize and import. Now the problem is I can link the MPA audio file to both the original MPEG2 file or the new M2V file in Sorenson. But it will not play the MPA audio. So still not getting any audio working on this file in Sorenson Squeeze even tough the audio file is now seperate it doesn't have any sound for some reason inside the Sorenson Program. I have played it outside of the program. Sound is there. But no longer there once I have imported it. Anything else I can try here? Must be a way around this. Ha,ha.... I just tried importing the MPA sound file on its own. The MP2 file imports automatically with it. Now I have SOUND but no VIDEO!! This is hilarious. got no sleep at all tonight tinkering with this bugger. Okay getting even weirder. The M2v video file that imported itself with the Mpa file seems to be some kind of layer now. If I highlight the MPA I get sound only. If I highlight the M2V I get Video only. But can't highlight the two and get both sound and video linked. Also the sound file for some reason is longer than the video after the demux, so bastard probably out of synch too. What next? I've tried importing the MPA sound and the original MPEG2 file. Have linked it to the new Mp2 file. Encoded a few seconds just for kicks for each method-still no sound. I'm stuck now. I know Sorenson doesn't offer support for Muxed Mpeg files but I have demuxed it so don't get why won't it play together with the video after importing them separately and even linking them together within the Sorenson program. Any takers on this problem? unionjacker posted 2006 Aug 06 09:35 Okay I can encode sound it comes out okay on its own. I can encode the movie clip on its own. But program won't let me encode the two of them together. I'm going to need to convert to a different format. The only other option is AVI. What programs will convert either the VOB files again or the MPEG2 file to an AVI without having to compress it again. I'm not looking at converting it to a Xvid Avi. And raw Avi would be too large a file. The Mpeg2 file is 1 and half gigs. Is there another kind of AVI format that won't reduce the quality of the Mpeg 2? So I can import this into Sorenson? I think with an Avi I'll get both sound and video linked together no problem. I can't use any M2v and MPA files as Sorenson is determined not to let me link them together. Just a plain and simple AVI as if it were digitized off a Mini-DV cam. That's what I need these VOB or MPEG2 files to be - Mini-DV digitized type Avi. unionjacker posted 2006 Aug 06 12:27 Okay after four days of tinkering I've finally cracked this moth and was able to import a VOB file into SORENSON and encode for the internet. I'll open up a new topic so that the next person can try what worked for me. Sure as hell would have saved me some time If I could have found these steps.
